The Highbury Education Centre in New Minas was the recipient of a $2,000 donation at the March meeting of the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board.
Campaign For Kids made the donation to the school board’s alternate education school which provides specialized high school programming.
Joining in the cheque presentation were from left, Campaign For Kids chair Laurie Wanamaker, HEC principal Paula Gallagher and AVRSB superintendent and board chair Margo Tait and Lavinia Parrish-Zwicker.

Campaign for Kids held its 6th annual charity golf tournament under sunny skies on September 19, drawing 25 teams for an enjoyable day of golf at the Greenwood Golf Club. One hundred per cent of funds raised through event sponsorship, team fees and the dinner auction will stay in Kings County to support local families in need. The golf committee extends a big thank you to all who contributed and took part and congratulates the team of Mike Mills, David Acker, Scott Allen and Mike Berringer from Kentville’s ScotiaBank Branch on their first place finish in the tournament.
Staff members at Scotia Bank in Kentville continued their support of Campaign for Kids by selling tickets on a Mother's Day basket of goodies. The branch raised over $500 through the raffle.

Campaign for Kids volunteers took to the streets May 31 with a banner and balloons to take part in the Apple Blossom Festival's Kids Parade.

Campaign for Kids held its 5th annual Charity Golf Tournament September 28 at the Greenwood Golf Club. Nineteen teams took part and along with sponsors, helped raise close to $12,000 for the foundation. Thanks to Presenting Sponsors Michelin Canada and Signature Subaru, the many local businesses and volunteers who supported the event.

The New Minas Wacky’s team of Mike McKillop, Dennis Demings and Paul Cook came away with the best score and the Campaign for Kids trophy.

Teammates Wayne and Bev Evans, left and Linda and Mike Shaffelburg made up one of the teams.

Campaign for Kids director Sandi Carmichael presented Mike McKillop with a prize for making the longest drive. Linda Shaffelburg took the women’s honour in that category.

Despite grey skies and on-and-off soggy weather conditions, Michelin teammates Joe Edens, David Carmichael, John MacDougall and Pierre Charpentier enjoyed the opportunity to get out on the greens.

Jessica Grant of the Scotia Bank in Kentville got some help from Campaign for Kids foundation member Keith Rankin during a September 14 barbeque hosted by the branch to raise funds for the charity.

Foundation Chairman Laurie Wanamaker and Treasurer Anne Nickerson decorated Campaign For Kids’ entry in 14 Wing Greenwood’s Festival of Trees event held last November. The event helps raise funds for 14 Wing’s Combined Charity Fund.
